Charles Leo ‘Meat” Mattingly, 82 passed away Tuesday May 21, 2013.

 Charles was born October 6, 1930 to the late Henry Lee and Mary Emily Tennelly Mattingly in New Haven, where he lived his life.

 He was an Avid Gardener, hunter and fisherman.  He was a member of the St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, where he was a past Eucharistic Minister and The Head Chicken cooker at the St. Catherine Picnic. He was a Member of the New Haven Fire Department for 37 years, served as Chief from 1975-1995. He was a member of the New Haven Optimist Club where he served on the board of directors for 20 years and served as President for 5 terms. A Member of the Knights of Columbus, New Haven Counsel, and was the weatherman for the local New Haven cable channel 4.  He was a Kentucky Coronel and in 1995 he was inducted as a member of the Nelson County Hall of Fame, by the Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber of Commerce. He was a retired United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War.

 Along with his parents Charles was preceded in death by his Wife; Norma Jean Spalding Mattingly, (2) Brothers, Paul and Brother Mattingly. 

 He is survived by (1) Daughter; Judy (Michael) Bowling, New Haven. (3) Sons; Larry (Sherran) Mattingly, Loretto, Jamie (Catherine) Mattingly, New Haven, Joe Mattingly, New Haven. (8) Grandchildren, Andrea (Jason) Jones, Brooke (Les) Hurst, Shane Bowling, Maggie (Ryne) Pelle, Charlie (Emily) Mattingly, Sally Mattingly, J.T. Mattingly, and Dillon Mattingly and (6) Great Grand Children. (1) Sister; Geneva Woods, Birmingham Ala., and (1) Brother, Fred (Linda) Mattingly, New Haven. 

 A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Saturday May 25, 2013 at the St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, with burial in St. Catherine of Alexandria Church Cemetery.  Fr. Troy Overton will officiate.  Visitation will be 2-8 pm Friday and 9-10:30 am Saturday at the Joseph L Greenwell Funeral Home. A prayer service will be Friday at 6 pm.

 Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to the St. Catherine Church, 414 1st street, New Haven KY 40051.
